Our Programs
Marching Band
Starting in the summer and ending in late fall, the entirety of Angola’s High School band takes the field as the Angola Marching Hornets. The Marching Hornets perform in various parades and at community events throughout the summer. In the fall, this group of performers presents their competitive show for the season during half-time at home football games for the community. The Marching Hornets also perform in various invitationals across the state, ISSMA events, including Regionals, Semi-State, and State Finals at Lucas Oil Stadium and in Bands Of America competitions. Their 2021 show Cube Squared finished 6th at State Finals, and the 2022 show Purple Thread finished 10th at State Finals.
Winter Guard
The Color Guard is one of the most important visual aspects of the marching band. Starting in late November and early December the guard is joined by band students as they begin their winter season. The Winter Guard has guard members performing a 3-4 minute program on a tarp instead of a football field. . The winter guard performs at invitationals and at IHSCGA events during their season. The winter guard also gets to perform at the All Bands Concert every year.
Indoor Percussion
Starting in the winter the percussion kids are joined by other band students to perform their winter season. Angola’s Indoor Percussion program performs at IPA and WGI competitions as well as at the All Bands Concert.
Concert Bands
After the conclusion of their competitive season, the Marching Hornets hang up their uniforms and put their plumes away as they begin working on concert band music. Angola High School’s concert band performs several concerts for parents, family, friends, and community members throughout the remainder of the school year. The concert band also competes in ISSMA’s Concert Band Contest and the band has the honor of playing at Angola High School’s graduation ceremony every year.
Jazz Band
During the second semester at Angola High School, jazz band becomes a class option for students. The jazz band competes in ISSMA’s Jazz Contest and at a few concerts during the semester. The largest performance that our jazz band gets to be a part of is All That Jazz which happens every year in the spring.
Pep Band
During home basketball and football games you’ll find Angola’s High School Band in the student section playing through pep band music. The students play various pop songs including Lady Gaga’s Just Dance and Bad Romance, and The Black Eyed Peas’ Let’s Get It Started. The band also opens the game with the playing of our national anthem and the playing of Angola’s fight song. In addition to that, the band welcomes the starting lineup with Land of a Thousand Dances.
